Choreographer and Dancer Catherine Tiso and Clarinetist Natalie Groom worked closely together to create this collaboration. Together, the artists selected a short piece and discussed possible interpretations. Ms. Tiso choreographed and performed the final product.

Dancer Aaron Smith presented Ms. Groom with 30 second dance clip without sound. Ms. Groom was tasked with composing musical accompaniment through a medium other than clarinet. The end product was a compilation of musical ideas using melodic content from Manuel da Falla's Three Cornered Hat, and soprano saxophone was used as the performance medium.

Dancers Molly Meyers and Meredith Jones were paired with Natalie Groom and Matthew Timman with the task of creating original music and dance that would function as the second movement of a three movement work. The work was inspired by a day in the Arizona desert scenery. The three movements are Darkness, Sunrise, and Blaze. This is the second movement, Sunrise.
